Choose your open bra by cup size
Small busts (A-B cup)
Open bras (also called shelf bras) are your allies creating volume and depth. Favour models with push-up demi-cups naturally lifting and centring bust. Underwires positioned under bust create spectacular pigeon-breast neckline. Structured laces or thick embroidery add texture giving illusion of fuller bust.
Recommended materials: Rigid lace (control effect), lightly padded satin (creates volume), elastic harnesses (structure bust). Models with transparent veil placed on bust create cup illusion whilst revealing skin: sophisticated and sexy without fully exposing.
You don't need extreme support, so let yourself be seduced by purely aesthetic models with beads, chains or graphic details.
Medium busts (C-D cup)
Perfect compromise: you have enough volume creating spectacular neckline, but don't need ultra-reinforced support. Choose models with wide underwires properly encircling bust and side stabilisers (elastic bands on sides) supporting without compressing.
Recommended cuts: Demi-cups supporting from underneath whilst leaving top free, or cups with horizontal cutout creating spectacular shelf effect. Crossed elastic harnesses add support whilst creating captivating graphic lines. Avoid too-thin models risking marking or insufficient support: favour thick lace or several layered elastic bands.
Fuller busts (E cup and above)
Support is crucial, but doesn't prevent daring! Seek models with reinforced underwires (ideally fabric-sheathed steel, not plastic) and wide straps (minimum 1.5cm) comfortably distributing weight. Wide side stabilisers (3-5cm) prevent side spillage effect.
Recommended structures: Models with support triangle under bust (like mini bralette) combined with strategic cutouts. Open bras with multi-layer harnesses offer excellent support whilst creating graphic visual effect. Favour thick materials (rigid lace, lined satin) structuring without excessive transparency.
Comfort tip: Check back is wide (minimum 4 adjustment hooks) properly distributing tension. Good open bra for fuller bust must never ride up back: sign it doesn't support correctly. Test movement: raise arms, bend forward. If bust moves excessively or underwires hurt, it's not right model for you.
When to wear open bra?
Contrary to received ideas, open bra isn't limited to intimate moments. Here's how to integrate into different contexts:
Private evenings & intimate moments: Obviously its natural territory. Pair with matching suspender belt and coordinated thong or knickers creating spectacular complete set. Visual effect of architectural lingerie is incomparable.
Under half-open shirt: Blazer or slightly unbuttoned shirt reveals lace details or elastic harnesses. Sophisticated-sexy effect for romantic dinners or evenings where you want to distil subtle sensuality.
Boudoir photo sessions: Graphic lines and open bra cutouts create spectacular visuals in photos. Light and shadow play on harnesses, lace and skin creates artistic aesthetic.
Special couple events: For anniversaries, Valentine's, or simply surprising partner, open bra is perfect base of confidence and embraced daring.
💎 Create complete set
Open bra rarely wears alone. For complete, harmonious look, pair with matching or coordinated pieces. Favour suspender belt + stockings elongating silhouette and creating elegant visual continuity. Matching thong (ideally same lace or material) unifies ensemble.
If your model has gold or silver details (rings, chains), repeat this metal in minimalist jewellery. Ensemble must tell coherent story: either romantic (white lace, powder pink), or daring (black, harnesses, vinyl), or glamorous (red, satin, gilding). Don't mix styles on same outfit.
