For knickers, thongs and hosiery, also check their current underwear labels. Most indicate either international size (XS, S, M, L, XL) or UK size (6, 8, 10, 12, 14). Favour very stretch fabrics like stretch lace, elastic mesh or satin with elastane. These fabrics forgive small size errors much more as they adapt to body shape. A stretch lace set in S/M will suit a woman who's 32B or 34B, whilst a rigid satin set will require exact size.
Opt for pieces with grouped sizes rather than precise sizes. Many sexy lingerie brands offer sizes in S/M, L/XL rather than 32B, 34C. These sizes are less precise but much more forgiving. An M bodysuit will generally suit band sizes 32-34 and B-C cups, leaving nice margin.
Choose adjustable pieces. A bra with adjustable straps and multiple hook positions at back (3 positions minimum) can adapt to slight size variations. A thong with ties at sides can tighten or loosen according to body shape.
A chemise with empire cut under bust and fluid fabric adapts to practically all body shapes as long as bust measurement is correct.
